'Bauballs' sold by the Orchid Cancer Society

bauballs1 300x199 Charity Sells Unusual Ornaments for Testicular CancerA new set of ornaments are being sold to raise money to fight testicular cancer, and their design is … well, right to the point.

The ornaments, hand-crafted by Matt Robinson and Tom Wrigglesworth, are shaped like the very things they’re about, Today reports. The shiny, red, testicle-shaped ornaments are called “bauballs” and sell for about $25 each.

The charity hopes to raise money and spur discussion about an uncomfortable subject. In the U.S. approximately 9,000 men will be diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2012. If detected early, the survival rate is near 99%.

“Lots of men don’t walk to talk about things like this unless you make it funny,” Robinson said in an interview with Today.

The ornaments are available at the website www.checkyourbauballs.com. The first batch has already sold out, but Robinson and Wrigglesworth hope to have another set available by Dec. 17.
