Cheers! Roger Federer Gets $30M Endorsement Deal

He replaces Scarlett Johansson as the face of Moet champagne

Beginning next year, Roger Federer will be seen with a lot of champagne. But he will be doing more than just celebrating another Grand Slam win.

The Swiss tennis icon has signed a five year deal to become the global face of France’s Moet & Chandon. He will be paid $30 million to appear on the champagne’s advertising campaigns and appear special events, notes.

Federer hardly needs the cash. He’s already earning about $50 million a year, mostly from product endorsements with an array of well-known brands, including Nike (NYSE:NKE), Rolex, Lindt (PINK:LDSVF) chocolates, Procter & Gamble’s (NYSE:PG) Gillette razors, Daimler‘s (PINK:DDAIF) Mercedes-Benz and, perhaps not surprisingly for someone from Switzerland, Credit Suisse (NYSE:CS).

While Federer is raking in a huge amount of money every year, he is still ranked only fifth on the list of highest grossing athletes, behind fellow golfer Tiger Woods and basketball star LeBron James. Boxer Floyd Mayweather is currently the highest paid athlete, bringing in $85 million a year.

Federer replaces actress Scarlett Johansson, who was Moet’s former celebrity spokesperson.
