Dunkin’ Donuts Tests Gluten-Free Goods

[1]Dunkin’ Donuts (NASDAQ:DNKN[2]) is testing a new, gluten-free donut offering.

The new products were first noticed in the Miami area, reports the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness[3]. Later, the story was picked up by a gluten-free blogger in Philadelphia and word spread from there.

When contacted about the new products, a spokesman for Dunkin’ Donuts emailed the NFCA, “Thank you for taking the time to contact Dunkin’ Donuts. We are currently testing new gluten-free options at select stores in both Florida and Massachusetts, and while they are still in the testing phase we have received very positive feedback on the new products so far. We do not yet have a timeframe for potential national distribution.”

A franchisee in South Florida responded to a Facebook post about the test that he had been interested in it since his son was diagnosed with Celiac disease. He also said that, while the test is limited to a few stores right now, there are plans to expand it in February.
