Facebook Privacy Settings Trip Up Randi Zuckerberg

[1]A family photo, posted privately by Randi Zuckerberg, went viral on Twitter.

Randi, sister of Facebook (NASDAQ:FB[2]) founder Mark Zuckerberg, posted a photo on Facebook of her family, including Mark, checking out the firm’s newest app, Poke, the Los Angeles Times reports[3]. While she marked the photo as “private,” it was reposted on Twitter — and it’s now everywhere.

The photo was posted by a woman who was a Facebook friend with one of Randi Zuckerberg’s sisters. The woman later apologized after Randi tweeted that posting it was “way uncool.” Randi accepted the woman’s apology in a follow-up tweet.

The woman saw the photo due to one of Facebook’s privacy settings. One of the Zuckerberg sisters was tagged in the photo, and that allowed all of her friends to see it in their Facebook News Feed, regardless of the privacy settings of the original poster. The setting, as many other Facebook privacy issues, has been a controversial one over the last year.
