Apparently, Google‘s (NASDAQ:GOOG) new music-matching service has a problem with songs featuring explicit language.
Google Music recently introduced a scan-and-match service, which scans users’ music libraries that are uploaded to the cloud-based service and replaces tracks with matches found in the Internet search giant’s digital catalog. While this greatly speeds up the uploading process for users, some are discovering that the service is replacing their songs with the wrong versions, TheVerge notes.
While some users report that Google Music has replaced tracks with explicit lyrics with cleaned-up versions, others complain that the reverse is happening. Google hasn’t yet commented to TheVerge on the problem or any potential solution.
A similar problem was noted with Apple‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL) song-matching service when it first debuted on iTunes.
Google Music, which permits users to share music tracks across multiple devices, competes with iTunes and Amazon‘s (NASDAQ:AMZN) Cloud Player, but is offered without charge, unlike its rivals.
Shares of Google rose fractionally in Wednesday morning trading.
