[1]The newest Kindle Fires are Amazon‘s (NASDAQ:AMZN[2]) Deal of the Day — for today only, the tablets are available at a $50 discount.

The Kindle Fire HD 8.9” model — the newest version of the popular tablet computer — is Amazon’s Deal of the Day at $249, and there’s a limited number available.

The $50 discount applies to all versions of the newest Kindle Fire. Even the priciest, most powerful model — the $599 Kindle Fire HD 4G 64GB LTE — will be available for $549.

To get the deal, visitors to Amazon must use the promotion code “FIREHD89” when purchasing the tablet. Purchasers also must agree to accept Amazon’s “Special Offers,” which come bundled with the device. If buyers don’t want the offers, an extra $20 will be added to the price.

Amazon also is now selling Kindles in GameStop (NYSE:GME[3]) stores, ZDNet reports[4]. This comes after larger retailers like Target (NYSE:TGT[5]) and Walmart (NYSE:WMT[6]) stopped selling the devices. Those who purchase Kindles in the popular game stores will also receive a free $25 Amazon gift card.
