A Georgia woman claims she found something completely inappropriate in a breakfast burrito from McDonald’s (NYSE:MCD).
Frances Rosario says that she purchased the burrito from the value menu at a McDonald’s in Lawrenceville, Ga., for her four-year-old daughter Nevaeh. Spotting something suspicious extruding from the burrito, Rosario says she opened it up to find a nose ring, CNN notes.
Rosario claims that when she contacted McDonald’s to complain about the unwanted ingredient, the local manager rudely dismissed her. She adds that communicating with McDonald’s corporate headquarters didn’t yield any better results.
The McDonald’s from which Rosario purchased the burrito released a statement saying that it was investigating the matter and that food safety was a “top priority” for the restaurant.
McDonald’s has been expanding its value menu in recent months in order to fend off rising competition from a variety of other fast food purveyors, including Burger King (NYSE:BKW), Wendy’s (NASDAQ:WEN) and Yum Brands’ (NYSE:YUM) Taco Bell.
Shares of McDonald’s slipped fractionally in Monday midday trading.
