Pizza Hut Canada (NYSE:YUM) has created “Eau de Pizza Hut” perfume.
The fragrance — specially designed for a marketing campaign — came about when the company asked on its Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) page about the smell of pizza and what a pizza perfume would be called, reports Today. The question had more responses, including “Eau de Pepperoni” and “Pizzaz,” than any other in the page’s history.
After working with a perfume maker and testing several scents — some smelling too much of cheese, some too much of pepperoni — a scent was developed that the company feels embodies its pizza.
Only 110 bottles of the limited-edition perfume were made. Those were sent to quick responders on the company’s Facebook page. This limited run might not be the only one, however. Response to the promotion has been so good that the company is considering the production of another edition to use as gifts.
Pizza Hut doesn’t believe the perfume will be used as a body spray, but rather as a room fragrance.
