[1]Fans of the original Batman TV series, which aired in the 1960′s and has been in syndication ever since, will finally get a chance to own the actual Batmobile used in the series[2].
The iconic car will hit the auction block in January and is expected to fetch up to $2 million, CelebrityNetWorth notes.
The Batmobile seen in the TV series, which starred Adam West as Bruce Wayne/Batman, was crafted by George Barris, following the design of Ford‘s (NYSE:F[3]) Lincoln Futura concept car, which was shown off at the 1955 Chicago Auto Show.
But the original Batmobile suffered mechanical issues during the show’s production and its engine was ultimately rebuilt with parts from a Ford Galaxie.
The Batmobile remained part of Barris’ private collection for decades.
