[1]Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is willing to pay to get what he wants, but is also willing to compromise as well[2]. When it comes to charity, that is.
The star of Titanic, Inception and Gangs of New York found himself in a bidding war for a dinner with former President Bill Clinton with an unnamed woman at a charity event to aid Haiti’s poor, hosted by fellow actor Sean Penn. When he was outbid, DiCaprio offered to combine the bids. The woman agreed and she, DiCaprio and a guest, and Clinton will sit down for a dinner which cost the Hollywood star and his rival $200,000 each, the New York Daily News notes.
DiCaprio was outbid for another item at the celebrity auction. Roberta Armani paid $240,000 to snatch the “Explore Bhutan” travel package out of DiCaprio’s grasp.
The benefit brought in $4 million to help rebuild Haiti, which has long struggled with poverty, and was shattered by a major earthquake that killed more than 200,000 in 2010.
Other attendees included Daniel Craig, Harvey Weinstein, Richard Gere, Anderson Cooper and Barry Diller.
