The telecommunications giant said on Monday that it would offer subscribers access to a library of 1,500 movies that can be instantly streamed to TVs, mobile devices or computers.

Priced at $5 a month, the new service, dubbed the U-Verse Screen Pack, is designed to stem the loss of viewers from online streaming services like Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), Hulu and Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX). However, only U-Verse subscribers can access the new AT&T streaming service, BGR noted.

U-Verse subscribers can try out the Screen Pack service without charge between January 7, and January 13.

The video streaming market is getting more crowded. Last month, Redbox Instant by Verizon, a partnership between Verizon (NYSE:VZ) and Redbox parent company Coinstar (NASDAQ:CSTR) announced that its new video streaming service swill be priced at $8 a month, matching Netflix’s monthly streaming-only option.

Shares of AT&T slipped more than 1% in Tuesday morning trading.
