Singer Britney Spears has called off her engagement to her agent, Jason Trawick.
The split appears to be amicable, the Associated Press reports. Statements from both Spears and Trawick indicate that the two are on good terms. Spears’ statement said, “Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I’ll always adore him and we will remain great friends.”
Trawick began dating Spears in 2009, and the two became engaged in December, 2011. There’s no word about whether the business relationship between the two will continue. Spears recently left the TV show X-Factor, reportedly before she could be fired. She plans to return to recording and performing in 2013.
Trawick also resigned from his position as one of Spears’ conservators. Spears was put under conservatorship in 2008 following a series of public meltdowns that made her father seek control of her affairs. While a conservator, Trawick did not control Spears’ finances.
