[1]Fast-food chain Burger King (NYSE:BKW[2]) has cut ties with Silvercrest, an Ireland-based meat packer caught up in a scandal involving horse meat.
The restaurant chain stopped using the meat from Silvercrest last weekend, the Los Angeles Times reports[3]. Last week, horse DNA was discovered in beef Silvercrest supplied to grocers[4] in the U.K. and Ireland. Silvercrest had been the supplier of beef to Burger King’s restaurants in the two nations.
Burger King announced that it is pursuing its own investigation into the matter and that replacing Silvercrest is a precautionary act.
Because of the change, some menu items will be unavailable until the new supplies make their way through the distribution system.
