An adaptation of the Disney (NYSE:DIS) animated movie Aladdin will hit Broadway in 2014.
The musical, taken from the hit movie that won two Oscars, has been performed around the country since 2011, The New York Times reports. The play debuted in Seattle in 2011 and had a run in St. Louis last year.
The show will appear at the New Amsterdam Theater. It will replace another Disney musical, Mary Poppins. The last day for Mary Poppins will be March 3. Following that, the theater will undergo what is expected to be several months worth of renovations to make it suitable for the new production.
Disney executives say that they expect the theater will be ready for Aladdin to debut in the Spring of 2014.
