In a lawsuit filed in Florida’s Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Court, former professional wrestler Hulk Hogan — under his actual name, Terry Bollea — alleges that the Laser Spine Institute warned him that the spinal surgery advised by his traditional physicians could end his career.
Relying on their advice, Hogan says he underwent “multiple unnecessary endoscopic surgical procedures” that seriously damaged his back, the Tampa Bay Times notes.
Hogan is suing the spinal institute for negligent conduct. He also claims that it advertised his endorsement without approval or compensation.
Repeated surgical procedures effectively ended his career as an athlete and public personality, Hogan claims, costing him $50 million in lost income.
The Laser Spine Institute told the Tampa Bay Times that it would not comment on on-going litigation.
