Italian Fashion Boss Missoni Goes Missing

The whereabouts of Italian fashion designer Vittorio Missoni remain unknown after his plane disappeared off the coast of Venezuela[1].

Missoni was flying with his wife, four other Italians and two crew members from the Los Roques resort to Caracas’ international airport when their small plane went missing, CNN noted.

Venezuelan officials said more than 385 air and sea personnel had been deployed searching the area around the plane’s last reported position.

The Missoni brand, founded in 1953, produces luxury apparel worn by prominent Hollywood celebrities, including Cameron Diaz, Nicole Richie and Katie Holmes. Based in Milan, the company has annual sales that are thought to range between $75 million and $100 million.

Missoni and two siblings have run the privately held company since 1996.
