The dog, Roxy, was found trapped in a fence in Houston on Friday, The Houston Chronicle reports. The city’s animal control board, BARC, says that while undergoing a standard procedure, board employees discovered an implanted microchip that determined that Roxy was a lost dog from Pennsylvania.

The dog’s owner — Dan Loefflad, of Allentwon, Penn. — is elated to have Roxy coming home. Loefflad says his granddaughter had taken Roxy to Texas without his permission. Houston pet store Natural Pawz paid for Roxy to fly from Houston to New Jersey, where Loefflad is picking him up.

Pets with microchips are much more likely to be found when lost. A report from Ohio State University states that lost cats are 20 times more likely to be returned with implants, and lost dogs 2.5 times more likely to be returned.
