[1]Now there’s a tablet — actually, a table — computer big enough for the whole family.
The new IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC by Lenovo (PINK:LNVGY[2]) is enormous. Measuring a huge 27 inches, the screen can be laid flat to whole families to use. Laid on a table, it’s big enough for four people to use at once.
Lenovo is calling the IdeaCentre Horizon the world’s first “interpersonal computer” instead of a “personal computer” because the idea is to promote a shared computing experience for families and groups, The Associated Press reports[3]. With a screen bigger than 8 of Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL[4]) iPads and running Microsoft’s (NASDAQ:MSFT[5]) Windows 8, up to 10 fingers can be manipulating the touchscreen system at once for a true, multi-user experience.
The system also comes with entertainment enhancements such as “strikers” for an air hockey game, and suction-cup joysticks can be purchased for other games.
Lenovo will bring the new system to the market this summer. With a price point of $1,699, the IdeaCentre Horizon is far pricier than a tablet computer, though it is meant more so as a PC than a tablet.
