Polaroid Provides Prints From Phone Photos

The company is opening 10 Polaroid Fotobar’s around the U.S. in 2013, reports NBC News. The stores will allow customers to easily print pictures from social media sites and those on handheld devices such as tablet computers and smartphones.

The stores will offer more than just a 3×5 snapshot. Customers will be able to customize their prints on individual workstations using wireless technology. They’ll be able to print small pictures and even expand the photos to wall-hanging size and get them framed.

Polaroid isn’t the first firm to make this effort. Customers can print Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone  photos at Costco (NASDAQ:COST), and those at Walgreen (NYSE:WAG) pharmacies can print from Facebook-owned (NASDAQ:FB) Instagram.

In a release, Polaroid President Scott Hardy says, “Polaroid Fotobar retail stores represent a perfect modern expression of the values for which we have stood for 75 years. We are very excited about the opening of these stores, and the opportunities they will create for millions of consumers to have classic Polaroid experiences.”
