Fast-food chain Taco Bell (NYSE:YUM) has provided a 15-year-old swimmer a custom swimsuit.
The teenager, Ryan Klarner, posted on the company’s Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) page asking if the firm could provide him a Speedo with the slogan “Think Outside the Buns,” CNBC reports. While Klarner says he didn’t really expect to get a response, two weeks later he got a message saying, “What size do you wear? And what’s your address?”
Klarner was floored. But a spokeswoman for Taco Bell says it takes requests from social media followers seriously and that responding to such requests is a large part of building connections to customers.
Director of Digital and Social Engagement Tressie Lieberman told CNBC: “Beyond what we’re putting out to the masses, we want to engage with everyone individually. It’s tough to respond to every single person … but we definitely want to make sure people know we’re listening.”
Klarner is actually receiving two swimsuits. One with the requested message, which comes from the chain’s older slogan, and one with “Live Mas,” the new slogan Taco Bell adopted in 2011.
