Giant retailer Target (NYSE:TGT) is launching six new brands that will be available exclusively on its website.
The new brands primarily play to Target’s home décor market, reports Today. The new brands include four different lines of home furnishings: Too, Mudhut, Boho Boutique and Room 365. Each has distinctive styles and different approaches to the home. Also debuting is a new line of women’s clothing, Labworks, and a line of clothing, bedding and décor for babies called Zutano Blue.
A spokesman for Target said, “We’re excited that for the first time Target has developed new brands exclusively for Target.com. We believe these new brands will further differentiate Target.com from other online retailers and help us create a great shopping experience for our guests.”
The new online-only strategy will accomplish two things, say analysts. It will allow Target to experiment with new products at a lower risk without taking up floor space. It will also let it generate a higher margin on the sales of goods through Target.com.
