[1]Temple Run 2, the sequel to one of the hottest gaming apps ever, has just been released to Apple‘s (NASDAQ:AAPL[2]) App Store to enormous fanfare.
The follow-up to top-selling Temple Run immediately went to the top of the iTunes charts, The London Telegraph reports[3].
The first version of the game was downloaded more than 170 million times. The designers — the husband-wife team of Keith Shepherd and Natalia Luckyanona — became millionaires following the game’s success. It took them four months to program.
In the new version, the game is enhanced with zip lines, mine carts and a greater variety of challenges.
Shepherd told the Telegraph, “When you’re developing games you always hope that there will be a hit and people will love them. But this has become a hit on a level beyond what we ever imagined. Everybody is playing it.”
