Woman Sues Match.com for $10M After Horrifying Ordeal

[1]A woman in Nevada is suing dating website Match.com (NASDAQ:IACI[2]) after being attacked by the man she was matched with.

Mary Kay Beckman is suing the company for $10 million, reports CBS News[3]. In her suit, she alleges that Match.com set her up with a man who became a murder suspect and that the company didn’t properly disclose the dangers of online dating.

In 2010, the system paired Beckman with Wade Ridley, who she briefly dated, then broke it off. Following that, the suit claims, Ridley broke into her garage and attacked her, stabbing her 10 times and stomping on her head. Beckman required multiple surgeries to repair the wounds she suffered.

Ridley was later charged with the murder of another woman in Phoenix. He died in jail in 2012, having committed suicide.

A spokesman for Match.com agrees that Beckman’s experience was horrible but claims that the lawsuit is absurd.
