Bare-Naked Museum-Goers View Nude Exhibit

Visitors see nude show ... in the nude

Not only the exhibit is naked at The Leopold Museum in Vienna, Austria.

To enter the late-night showing of the exhibit “Nude Men from 1800 to Today,” visitors must also disrobe, reports the Associated Press — and more than 60 art lovers did end up getting naked for the special showing.

At the after-hours showing of the nude art, visitors were allowed to keep their shoes and socks on. Otherwise they were in the nude themselves. The guide for the show remained dressed as the artwork was displayed.

The museum had the idea for the nude visitor night after a November incident in which a patron stripped at the museum to see the artwork. Following the media attention the incident received, demand to see the show nude climbed. Museum spokesman Klaus Pokorny said, “We got requests from all over the world from people who were inspired by the exhibition … who asked us, ‘Can we visit the exhibition naked?'”

Even without the nude viewing, the exhibit is the most attended at The Leopold. More than 100,000 people — most of them dressed — have viewed it.
