On Monday, Reddit users had the opportunity to question Bill Gates.
The billionaire co-founder of Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) appeared on the social news and entertainment website to discuss his annual letter, but ultimately answered questions on a variety of topics, the Washington Post noted.
Known for his charity work since stepping down as Microsoft’s head, Gates discussed his foundation’s campaign to promote vaccinations against killer diseases like polio in countries around the world. He also called for more research on new vaccines to combat HIV and tuberculosis.
In fact, Gates observed that had he not become interested in computers, he might have ended up a doctor. Or a mathematician.
Gates said admired Microsoft’s new Surface Pro tablet, calling it “very nice. He also praised the company’s latest operating system, Windows 8, which was launched last year.
Turning personal, Gates indicated that he enjoys playing bridge and tennis and spending time with his children, taking them to see offbeat places like “power plants, garbage dumps, the Large Hadron Collider.”
Questioned about his relationship with late Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs, Gates said that he and Jobs “respected each other.”
