Hackers Get Into Jeep’s Twitter Account

It followed a similar attack on Burger King on Monday

   

twitter logo e1298993107711 Hackers Get Into Jeep's Twitter AccountFollowers of Jeep’s Twitter account received a series of unusual tweets after hackers gained access to the account on Tuesday afternoon.

Hackers issued tweets suggesting that the popular Chrysler brand, owned by Italy’s Fiat (PINK:FIATY), was stopping production and would be sold to General Motor‘s (NYSE:GM) Cadillac division, the Associated Press noted.

Hackers also posted a picture of a man and a bottle of pills along with the tweet that indicated that Jeep had been sold to GM because its workers were “doing this.” Control of the account was regained by Twitter and Chrysler’s PR agency about an hour after the fake tweets went out.

The fake tweets were deleted after control of the account had been restored to Chrysler. The identity of the hackers remained unknown.

On Monday, Burger King‘s (NYSE:BKW) Twitter account was hacked leading to a series of obscene tweets and posting of the logo of its arch-rival McDonald’s (NYSE:MCD).
