Kellogg (NYSE:K)Cereal-maker Kellogg (NYSE:K) is taking tens of thousands of boxes of cereal off the market due to possible glass fragments in the cereal.

The company is recalling 36,000 boxes of its Special K Red Berries cereal, reports Reuters. The boxes may have bits of glass mixed with the product.

The company says a limited number of retailers received potentially dangerous boxes and that it was making the recall in an excess of caution. Spokesman Kris Charles said Wednesday, “The company took this precautionary action due to the possible presence of glass fragments from a single batch of one of the ingredients. This is a very small recall…We took the step out of an abundance of caution.”

The boxes recalled are in three sizes:

  • 11.2 oz boxes UPC 38000 59923 with “Better if Used by” dates between DEC 02 2013 KNC 105 00:13 and DEC 02 2013 KNC 105 02:30
  • 37 oz boxes UPC 38000 20940 with “Better if Used by” dates between NOV 30 2013 KNB 107 17:31 and NOV 30 2013 KNB 107 20:05
  • 22.4 oz boxes UPC 38000 78356 with “Better if Used by” dates between NOV 30 2013 KNB 105 15:00 and NOV 30 2013 KNB 105 17:05
