Servers at popular Italian restaurant chain Olive Garden (NYSE:DRI) are new look.
It will be the first change in uniform for the chain’s servers since it’s founding, reports Bloomberg Businessweek. Gone are the old white shirt, black pants and tie combo. Replacing it is a new all-black uniform without the tie.
“We’ve had some changes with the apron; we’ve adjusted our tie. But really we’ve had that white, button-up dress shirt with a tie since the beginning. We wanted a significant change, and black is obviously the opposite of white,” says Dan Kiernan, executive vice president of operations for the chain.
The chain is adding an accessory, too. Each server will be wearing a large button that reads, “Hospitaliano!” It’s a word the chain invented to create a sense of enthusiasm for its guests.
