No one won the jackpot in Saturday’s Powerball lottery. That mean’s the top prize will rise to $208 million for the next drawing on Wednesday.
In order to win the jackpot, players must match five numbers, plus the Powerball number. In Saturday’s drawing, six tickets were sold that matched five numbers, entitling five of their holders to $1 million in winnings, the Star-Ledger noted.
A sixth five-number ticket holder from Saturday’s drawing will get $2 million, since the ticket was bought with Texas’ Power Play option.
Two winners in New Jersey will get $10,000 each for matching four numbers.
Back on December 19, an elderly couple from Kansas won $50 million. No one has won the top prize in the lottery, which is played in 42 states, since.
If someone wins on Wednesday, they have the option to take a cash payment of $130.7 million. That’s before the IRS collects its cut, of course.
