The Boston Beer Company (NYSE:SAM) is planning to change up how consumers can get Sam Adams.
Soon, the popular craft beer — previously only available in glass bottles — will be available in cans. The company is making the move so it’s easier for people to enjoy Sam Adams at places that don’t allow glass containers. Pools, beaches and concert venues all typically ban glass-packaged beverages from their grounds.
The beer will also be easier to carry and cheaper to produce. Many beer-makers now use plastic linings inside metal cans to prevent the aluminum from altering the beer’s flavor and feel, reports The Los Angeles Times. Using cans also lowers the weight of each case and reduces shipping costs.
Sam Adams cans will begin to be available in 12-pack cases early this summer.
