[1]Spinach lovers beware! A California-based company is recalling three brands of organic spinach due to potential bacterial contamination[2].

The recall was issued by Taylor Farms Retail. It includes packages of spinach sold under the Simple Truth Organic, Full Circle Organic and Taylor Farms Organic brands. The affected spinach may have been affected by E. Coli. and was sold in more than 36 states, Food Safety News notes.

No illnesses have been reported, but E. Coli can produce severe diarrhea, cramping and vomiting in infected individuals. The infection can be especially dangerous in people with weakened immune systems, the elderly and the very young.

Products affected by the recall include 5-ounce packages of Simple Truth Organic, and 16-ounce packages of Full Circle Organic and Taylor Farms Organic spinach with a use-by date of February 24, 2013.

Last month, Annie’s (NYSE:BNNY[3]) voluntarily recalled its packaged frozen pizzas[4] after metallic mesh particles were found in some pizza ingredients produced by an outside supplier.
