[1]A television station was embarrassed yesterday after hackers caused it to warn its viewers of a zombie uprising.
Great Falls, Mont., television station KRTV ended up red-faced Monday after the station posted on its website and in a crawl during its broadcast of The Steve Wilkos Show that “dead bodies are rising from their graves,” Gawker reports[2].
The message came from the automated Emergency Alert System, which is used to alert people in the event of disasters and other hazards in a station’s broadcast area. The message apparently was placed in the system by hackers who are, so far, unidentified.
The station quickly pulled the alert from the broadcast and posted a correction.
“Someone apparently hacked into the Emergency Alert System and announced on KRTV and the CW that there was an emergency in several Montana counties,” the station’s website announced[3].
