Airlines continue to rework their flight schedules around the continued grounding of Boeing‘s (NYSE:BA) 787 Dreamliner jets.
On Thursday, United Airlines (NYSE:UAL) announced that it has removed the plane from its scheduled flights at least until June 5. The airline is also delaying the debut of a new Denver-to-Tokyo route from March 31 until May 12, at the earliest. However, 787s could return to the airline’s schedule earlier, if a fix is found, a spokesman told the Associated Press.
Last month, aviation regulators around the world grounded the new high-tech jet after series of malfunctions led to emergency landings and a fire in the underbelly of a 787 at Boston’s Logan airport.
Boeing has scrambled to identify the cause of the problem, which is believed to stem from the plane’s lithium-ion batteries.
Shares of United Airlines rose fractionally in Friday morning trading.
