In one more sign that the American housing market is turning around quick sales of home are increasing.
So-called “flash” sales of home — named because the homes sell less than 24 hours after being listed — are growing in several places around the country.
The online real estate broker Redfin has compiled a list of the markets where the most flash sales are occurring. The firm used data from local listing services and checked them against homes that were listed and changed to “pending” within 24 hours.
The 10 top markets for quick home sales and the number of flash sales between Oct. 1, 2012 and Feb. 26, 2013:
- Phoenix, Ariz.: 540
- Chicago, Ill.: 261
- Houston, Texas: 188
- Dallas, Texas: 184
- Austin, Texas: 163
- San Diego, Calif.: 135
- Los Angeles, Calif.: 132
- Sacramento, Calif.: 128
- Denver, Col.: 115
- Portland, Ore.: 115
