Last week, the Internet pioneer announced a management re-shuffling under which Susan Lyne was tapped to manage the struggling company’s online branding. Armstrong told attendees at a Deutsche Bank (NYSE:DB) event on Monday that few executives in the world had her depth of online content experience, The Hollywood Reporter noted.

Lyne formerly served as an executive at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (NYSE:MSO) and Disney‘s (NYSE:DIS) ABC Entertainment. Prior to her appointment, she sat on the company’s board of directors.

Armstrong said that AOL needed to become “the world’s best content company.” He noted that Lyne had already sent him a list of things that required change at AOL.

The management re-organization that put Lyne on top of the company’s content operations also eliminated the job of chief operating officer held by Artie Minson since last year. Minson will reportedly leave the company by the end of the year.

Shares of AOL climbed almost 2% in Monday morning trading.
