Many customers of JPMorgan Chase‘s (NYSE:JPM) Chase Bank found themselves unable to access their accounts online on the evening of March 18. Those that could were shocked to see their account balances listed as $0.
The bank moved quickly to reassure customers that it hadn’t been hacked during the night. A bank spokesperson attributed the access problems “an internal issue” with the bank’s system, CBS News noted.
Chase announced via Twitter that the problem, which last about two hours, had been fixed.
Only customer checking accounts were affected by the glitch. Mortgage accounts and credit banking accounts did not experience any problems.
In September, a number of banks including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) and Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) were attacked by hackers. An Islamic militant group claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Shares of JPMorgan Chase slipped fractionally in Monday morning trading.
