Phillippe Jernnard, a 61-year-old wearing an Air France shirt and carrying a counterfeit Air France badge, allegedly entered the US Airways (NYSE:LCC) cockpit while the plane was awaiting takeoff at Philadelphia International Airport, reports CBS News.
Jernnard claimed to be a 747 pilot for Air France and became aggressive when questioned. He has been charged with criminal trespassing, tampering with records, impersonating a person privately employed and presenting a false ID to law enforcement. He is being held on $1 million bond. The FBI expects to make federal charges against him soon.
It is not known what Jernnard’s motives were for entering the cockpit. One passenger told CBS News that it is, “probably good that the rest of checks and balances worked and he wasn’t able to do anything, but something needs to be looked at.”
