Get Ready for Robotic Lawn Mowers

lawbott 300x191 Get Ready for Robotic Lawn MowersEveryone wants a nicely trimmed lawn. Few people, however, enjoy pushing a lawn mower to cut it, especially on a hot summer day.

Tired homeowners now have another option. They can let a robot cut their lawns. Battery powered, automated lawn mowers are available from a number of manufacturers, the Dayton Daily News reports.

Americans have grown used to robot vacuum cleaners like iRobot’s (NASDAQ:IRBT) popular Roomba, but robotic lawnmowers have been slower to take off. That may be due to the price. Automated lawn mowers from Kyodo America’s LawnBott are priced between $2,000 and $5,300 and require installation.

Still, industry research groups say that the market for lawn robots is poised to explode. By 2015, sales of domestic robots are expected to hit $4.8 billion, with demand for automated lawnmowers predicted to grow sharply.

A number of manufacturers have produced robotic lawnmowers, including Husqvarna, Honda (NYSE:HMC) and Deere (NYSE:DE).
