Yum! Brands (NYSE:YUM) KFC has debuted a new meal aimed at children.
The Li’l Bucket meal features a grilled chicken drumstick, apple sauce, green beans and a Capri Sun Roarin’ Water bottle, priced at $3.99. Buyers can substitute chicken tenders or bites for the drumstick and change side dishes, Restaurant News notes.
KFC executives say the meal is meant to appeal not only to children, but to health-conscious moms. Puzzle games are attached to the lid of the meal’s bucket container.
The new meal comes as research firm NDP Groups says that kids’ meal sales fell in 2011. However, industry groups say that healthy fast food meals aimed at children will be a rising trend in 2013.
KFC will market the Li’l Bucket through a Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) contest and a sweepstakes that parents can enter by scanning QR codes printed on the meal’s bucket.
Shares of Yum! Brands rose almost 1% in Thursday trading.
