An accident at a Chivas plant in Scotland sent thousands of gallons of whisky into the sewer.
The enormous spill — described as an “accidental loss” by the company — happened in its Dumbarton plant, reports the Associated Press.
A spokeswoman for Chivas — a brand under the Pernod Ricard (PINK:PDRDY) umbrella — declined to comment on the circumstances of the spill other than to acknowledge it. She did say that the amount of the spill had been overstated and, while not giving figures, denied that it was as much as the reported 18,000 liters (4,755 gallons).
It also is unclear what type of whisky was spilled.
