The former mayor of New York City and one-time U.S. presidential candidate, Rudy Giuliani, is the new spokesman for LifeLock (NYSE:LOCK), an identity theft protection service.
Giuliani is currently appearing in the company’s television ads. LifeLock announced that it would team with the former mayor late last year. LifeLock officials say that Giuliani, who built his tough-on-crime by cracking down on criminals first as a federal prosecutor and later as the leader of the nation’s largest city, is providing “strategic counsel” to the company, ABC News notes.
The former mayor also heads Giuliani Partners, a law firm that is also working with LifeLock. Giuliani has reportedly made a fortune as a consultant for companies and governments.
In the commercials, Giuliani highlights the havoc that identity theft can wreak on consumers lives and credit.
Last year, LifeLock, which has about 2.3 million subscribers, went public in an initial public offering that hoped to raise $175 million.
Shares of LifeLock fell more than 1% in Friday morning trading.
