daily apple rumors 300x180 Tuesday Apple Rumors: Apple's iTV Delayed Until 2014[1]Here are your Apple rumors[2] and AAPL news items for today:

Not Yet: Tech fans eagerly awaiting the debut of an Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL[3]) television set will have to wait until next year[4], CNET notes. Jefferies analyst Peter Misek told investors on Tuesday that Apple is concentrating on developing a super-high definition screen for the new TV to make it stand out against the fierce competition among other TV-makers. Apple is working on a screen with near 4K resolution, but without the high price. That will take more time. Misek had previously predicted an iTV launch in September or October of this year. Rumors of an Apple television set have been circulating for some time. Last year, the company was rumored to be testing prototypes of the new TV.

Market Share: Apple’s iOS apps will take 65% of global revenues generated by mobile apps this year[5], VentureBeat notes. Mobile apps will produce $25 billion in global revenue in 2013, with tablet apps comprising 35% of that amount and smartphone apps accounting for the remainder. However, with consumers turning increasingly to tablets, revenue from tablet apps is expected to eclipse that from smartphone apps by 2018, when worldwide app revenue is projected to hit $92 billion. This year, apps designed for Google‘s (NASDAQ:GOOG[6]) Android OS will account for 27% of global app revenue. That share is expected to increase in coming years.

High Flying: Passengers on Australia’s Qantas (PINK:QUBSF[7]) airline will soon be able to entertain themselves with iPads[8], even if they don’t own one, AppleInsider notes. The airline will distribute iPads to passengers in all classes on its flights between Sydney, Australia, and Honolulu, Hawaii. The iPads will be connected to the Q Streaming entertainment systems on board the airline’s Boeing (NYSE:BA[9]) 767 jets. The iPads will be able to access hundreds of hours of movies, TV shows and music via Wi-Fi connections. The airline plans to expand the range of entertainment available on the iPads to eventually include, games, digital newspapers and magazines, and business apps.
