Quick Update: Unnamed sources tell iMore that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will release a new version of its iPad this spring. The next-generation iPad will feature smaller bezels and a thinner profile, both in keeping with the styling of its iPad Mini. The fifth-generation iPad will bow in April, just six months after Apple unveiled the fourth-generation model. That will mark the shortest time between iPad model updates. The iPad Mini is not expected to get a Retina display this year. The source also indicated to iMore that the iPhone 5S would be announced in June or July and debut in August.

What’s In A Name?: Speaking to university students, Apple’s former head of advertising said that, prior to settling on the iPhone name, the company considered “Telepod,” “Mobi” and even “iPad,” 9to5Mac notes. Ken Segall told a University of Arizona marketing class that TriPod was evaluated, based on the devices ability to act as a phone, web browser and MP3 player. While the company ultimately settled on the iPhone name, it had to strike a deal with Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO), which held the trademark to the name based on its IP-phone system.

New Turn: Disney (NYSE:DIS) has replaced turnstiles at Walt Disney World with employees equipped with iPods, AppleInsider notes. The employees use the iPod Touches to scan park passes as visitors enter the Magic Kingdom. By removing the turnstiles, the park hopes to present a more friendly and convenient face to the public. Without the turnstiles, an entire family, including parents with strollers, can easily move through the entrance and enter the park. 17 million people visit Walt Disney World every  year. Using iPods to scan park passes is in the testing stage. Last year, Disney began the trial use of iPads at its Fastpass ticket sales.
