Over the weekend, hackers seized control of Twitter accounts belonging to two popular TV news shows.
On Saturday, CBS (NYSE:CBS) suspended the Twitter accounts for 60 Minutes and 48 Hours after a series of unauthorized tweets were sent, including one that said the government was concealing the “real culprit” behind last week’s bombing at the Boston Marathon, the Associated Press noted.
The Twitter accounts remained suspended through Saturday night as CBS and Twitter investigated the incident.
Hackers have recently compromised the Twitter accounts of a number of companies.
Later that month, hackers seized control of Chrysler’s Twitter account, tweeting that Chrysler’s Jeep brand would be shut down and sold to General Motors (NYSE:GM). Chrysler is owned by Italy’s Fiat (PINK:FIATY).
