Athletic apparel maker Adidas (PINK:ADDYY) is pulling a shirt about Kevin Ware from shelves.
The shirt — released following Ware’s terrible injury in the NCAA tournament and featuring his number 5 and the slogan “RI5E to the Occasion” — sold for $25, Advertising Age reports.
“The shirt is not currently for sale because of a use of logo issue,” a spokeswoman said. The company had faced criticism for profiting of the student-athlete’s injury. As a student, Ware could not share in any revenue earned by the sale of the shirts.
Ware broke his leg in a horrific injury during the University of Louisville’s win against Duke in an NCAA tournament game. His tibia was broken in a compound fracture when he landed after jumping to block a shot.
