The privately-held restaurant group has been experimenting with a snack menu since last year. If consumers in selected test markets respond well, the chain will ditch its value menu in favor of the snack menu, Restaurant News notes.

Wendy’s Goes Upscale With New Menu Item

Consumers in 13 markets across the country are currently testing the new snack menu.

Items on the snack menu are priced between $1 and $3. The menu includes Mighty Mini sliders, cake, a baked potato served with sour cream, a Junior Roast Beef sandwich and Mozzarella Sticks.

Arby’s executives said that the snack menu contained mostly independent items, instead of smaller portions of the restaurant’s main menu items. The new snack menu is designed to boost occasional snack purchases.

Earlier this year, burger chain Wendy’s (NASDAQ:WEN) said it would raise prices on its value menu in order to offset declining profit margins.

In November, rival fast food chain McDonald’s (NYSE:MCD) added two new items — Snack Size Fish McBites and a Grilled Cheese Onion Burger — to its popular value menu.
