A new type of beer cup from Anheuser-Busch InBev (NYSE:BUD) aims to make drinkers more friends.
The new “Buddy Cup” uses Facebook profiles — which have to be synced beforehand to mobile phones — to connect the social media accounts. The cups contain an embedded microchip that records the profiles and shares it with Facebook via the phone.
The new twist on friend-making is called “The More Buds, The More Friends” and purports to help people continue the friendships that begin at parties and bars. By connecting people, the cup helps drinkers remember who they were with the night before.
