Dog Eats $500, Owner Seeks Reimbursement

Man retrieves pieces of bills from yard, tapes them together

cashim Dog Eats $500, Owner Seeks ReimbursementA Montana man is determined to get his $500 back.

Wayne Kinkel was visiting his daughter when his dog — a 12-year-old golden retriever named Sundance — ate five $100 bills, The Toronto Sun is reporting.

Kinkel decided to try to recover his losses. He retrieved pieces of the missing bills from his dogs poop and — combined with other pieces his daughter found in her yard — taped the bills together. He claims to have cleaned the bills and soaked them in dish soap for a week before reassembling them.

Two local banks refused to exchange the bills and referred him to the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Kinkel can make the case for an exchange to officials there. If they believe his story, they can replace the bills, but it might take up to two years to occur.
