Finding Dory — which will be set one year after Finding Nemo — is set to star Ellen DeGeneres and will be released in 2015, reports Reuters.
The original movie, produced by Disney‘s (NYSE:DIS) Pixar, came out in 2003 and was both a critical and commercial success. At popular movie review site Rotten Tomatoes, Finding Nemo is rated as “fresh” by 99% by critics and 82% by the audience. It earned over $920 million in its theatrical release.
Little is known about the plot of the movie at this point. Original co-director Andrew Stanton — who will also direct the new movie — said in a statement that it would center on Dory finding her loved ones.
On her talk show, DeGeneres told her audience that she was glad to be able to reprise her role as the forgetful fish. “I’m excited that it’s finally happening. I read the script and it’s fantastic, it’s hilarious, it’s warm, it’s everything that you want it to be,” she said.
