The very first Chevrolet 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible has sold for more than $1 million.
The car — the first actual production model — was sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Fla., the Los Angeles Times reports.
The buyer was auto dealer and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick. He earlier paid $1.1 million for the coupe version of the vehicle.
Hendrick will be waiting for delivery on both, however. Production of both versions of the car doesn’t start until late this summer.
Proceeds from the latest sale will benefit the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit.
